Zen and the Art of Real Estate Investing with Jonathan Greene

Episode 018: The Value of Proof of Concept with Zasha Smith

If you want people’s money or if you’re struggling with attracting people to what you’re doing, you have to have some proof that you are capable of doing it. Authenticity plays a huge role in making that human connection as well.

In this episode, Zasha Smith, a licensed civil engineer turned full-time real estate investor, talks about the value of the proof of concept.

Zasha Smith worked for 10 years at a private firm and utility construction plans for hotels, shopping centers, and subdivisions. When she decided to turn to full-time real estate investing, Zasha built her $3.8 million residential portfolio of single-family, multifamily, and short-term rentals in Hawaii.

Zasha didn’t start investing until she was 33. After reading Rich Dad Poor Dad, her mindset changed. Today, she also shares some insights when you’re thinking of scaling or doing projects on your own successfully.

In this episode, you will hear:

  • How she’s leveraging social media platforms
  • The importance of being authentic
  • Her way of giving back to the community
  • Being strategic with your investments and smart with your expenses
  • The one thing you need to keep in mind when it comes to mentorship
  • Developing a solution mindset
