The Mental Side of Real Estate Investing with Steve Rozenberg

Share

The real estate investing world is not for the faint of heart. And while you have to have the education and the right network to succeed, you also have to focus on the mental side of real estate investing.

Real estate investor Steve Rozenberg shares his recipe for success, now having the fastest-growing property management company in the state of Texas, managing over 1,000 properties across three major metro cities.

The Mental Side of Being an Investor

Think differently.

When you buy the first property, you have thoughts that go through your mind. There’s fear and doubt, among many other things. When you go from one to five, you have a different set of challenges. But you have to become a different person if you’re going to be successful. Then as you go from five to 10 to 20 syndications, you’re on a journey that’s evolving and changing.

You have to change because for you to get from zero properties to one, and from one to five, you have to think differently.

Motivation is a great starter. It’s great to get you off the blocks and running in the sprint. But like a battery, it will drain over time to nothing. And so, the why behind what you’re doing is what keeps you going on those dark nights when you’re laying your head on the pillow. Being successful in real estate is 7% tactics, 3% luck, and 90% mental strategy.

Every day, make a decision and a conscious effort to be better or you’re going to be worse than yesterday.

If we want to be better, we have to do something different. Whether that’s hanging around different people or reading a new book, you have to think differently. Otherwise, you don’t stay the same because you get worse. It’s a simple decision, but it has a very large ripple effect.

You have to become the person first.

Entrepreneurs are not afraid of putting in the work, getting dirty, and doing what they have to do. But they’re missing the first part, which is to become that successful person first. If you are a poor-minded person, you are going to have a poor-minded life. It all starts with who you have to become and be that person first.

Tap into the power of visualization.

Visualize what your life’s going to be and how you’re going to get there. You’re not going to be successful just by being busy. Instead, slow down, sit down, plan it out, and visualize everything that’s going on. Visualize and know your destination.

Action makes all the difference.

Don’t be afraid that you’ll make mistakes or that you’ll look stupid. Just take action. Think differently, but don’t just let it stay in your head. You have to take action.

Focus on what you want, and not on what you don’t want.

Make sure you understand what you want, when you want it to happen, and how to get there. Focus on what you want because when you focus on what you don’t want, that’s what you’re going to end up with. There are so many people running away from the life that they don’t want, they don’t even know where they’re running to. So before you run, have a destination.
